Basecamp Hospitality is a collaboration between independent, privately owned award-winning park, resort, retail, and event management companies based in Red Bluff and Fairfield, California. Since 1975, the companies under Basecamp Hospitality brand have been providing our superior level of service and commitment as concessionaires to our partners in local, state, and national agencies.

We are committed to exceeding the expectations of these partners, as well as our day-to-day clients and guests. Collaboration and Diversification

Basecamp Hospitality identifies a group of diversified management enterprises providing comprehensive recreational, retail, hospitality and event management services. Collaboration and sharing mark the standardization celebrated by the brand.

Our group of collaborative independent entities include Urban Park Concessionaires, California Guest Services, UPC Gate Services, Basecamp Hospitality Management Services, and Quagga Inspection Services.

Urban Park Concessionaires

Urban Park Concessionaires (UPC) specializes in providing a full-range of marina and resort services to our customers, guests and agency partners. These services include retail facilities such as convenience stores and tackle shops, marina operations including slip, storage and boat rentals, lodging rentals, launch ramp operation, and entrance gate operation as well as a full range of reservation and resort management services.

We operate facilities at Lake Gregory Regional Park, Diamond Valley Lake and Lake Hemet in southern California; Lake Nacimiento and Lake San Antonio near California’s central coast; Lake Camanche in central California; as well as Big Basin Redwoods State Park, Lake Chabot and Los Vaqueros Reservoir in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Angel Island State Park and The Ranch at Little Hills (East Bay Regional Park District), specializes in large group events, including corporate picnics, team building, full-service catering, and activities. In 2009, we transformed The Ranch at Little Hills into a wedding event center for evening ceremonies and receptions and are pleased to be going into our fourth, successful season!

Recognized as the crown jewel of the Oregon State Park System, Silver Falls State Park Lodge and Conference Center is our newest operation beginning in May of 2014.

The core of the Urban Park Concessionaires business model is to provide excellent customer service in clean and safe facilities while we maintain positive agency relations.

California Guest Services

California Guest Services Inc. began its partnership with the National Park Service in 1974. This contract covers the operation of all concessions in Lassen Volcanic National Park, including Drakesbad Guest Ranch, Lassen Café & Gift, and the Manzanita Lake Camper Service Store & Camping Cabins.

This corporation has since grown to include campgrounds and boat launch facilities on Shasta Lake, Trinity Lake, and Lewiston Lake for the U.S. Forest Service in our Shasta Recreation Company division.

UPC Gate Services

The UPC Gate Services division is a specific response to the needs of park districts and campus administrations seeking comprehensive solutions to the management of parking and entrance gate assets. This important revenue stream is secured by the systems and practices we have developed and by the highest standards of security and audit built into the equipment we recommend. Our team of highly trained Gate Compliance Technicians utilizes factory recommended practices and repair procedures to keep the equipment productive and online. Systems that provide for remote monitoring such as the VenTek International venVUE system are supported currently and we are capable of managing the front and back office needs of most other owned systems.
UPC Gate Services represents a cutting-edge partnership between the agency client, the manufacturer of high tech automated pay station equipment and our own tried and true management group. We currently operate a demonstration project for the Santa Clara County Parks Department.

UPC Gate Services at Death Valley National Park

The project provides turnkey management and operation of the Automated Pay Station program for the National Park Service at Death Valley National Park in Inyo County, California. The primary respondent is Urban Park Concessionaires operating its division for collection services to the project as UPC Gate Services. The UPC Gate Services makes use of extensive resources in the payment technologies sector primarily through our equipment manufacturing partner, VenTek International.

Basecamp Hospitality’s primary activity will be in a standardization of UPC Gate Services field operations, compliance program management, and agency support and coordination.  Basecamp Hospitality will also be the lead proponent of outreach and education programs to the public and to our regional partners in the travel and tourism industry.

UPC Gate Services at Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area

In the fall of 2014, the Bureau of Land Management solicited our interest in a short-term agreement to provide for fee collection of federal access fees at the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area near El Centro, California. Within a short turn around, we had developed a game plan of multiple sales channels to accomplish the project along lines that were the most familiar to the thousands of “dune enthusiasts” that would soon be coming to the recreation area. Our plan included enlisting 50 resellers across southern California and Arizona region, establishing an online sales capacity and setting up over the counter sales as well as outreach sales during the annual Sand Sports Super Show consumer trade show in mid-September.

Basecamp Hospitality Management Services

Basecamp Hospitality was selected to provide management for the Clair Tappaan Lodge in north Lake Tahoe, California. Our management provides oversight of lodging, events, rentals and employee management for an extremely popular and historic tourist destination.

Quagga Inspection Services

As marina concession operators we have identified the need for providing thorough inspection services in response to the growing concern of invasive aquatic species entering the lakes and rivers across the United States. Responding to this need, Quagga Inspection Services offers a complete portfolio of inspection services including training, inspections, decontamination, and education services to assist our agency partners’ response to the Quagga and Zebra mussel invasion of inland waterways.

Our proprietary application (“app”) QID is the communications tool of choice by water districts, lake managers and marina/launch facility operators in California providing real-time vessel tracking and inspection status alerts at 25 lakes throughout California.
